You are not your own; You were bought with a price.

If you bought me, then you own me…

If you own me, then you will take care of me…

If God gives such attention to the appearance of wildflowers-most of which are never even seen-don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is to get you to relax, to not be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God’s giving. People who don’t know God and the way he works fuss over these things, but you know both God and how he works. Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met.

Who are you, o mountain?, you shall be made plain
not by my own power, but by your spirit, Lord.

Then the disciples came to Jesus asking “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” And He replied, “Because you have little faith.  If you had faith as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain ‘Move from here to there’ and it would move.  Nothing would be impossible for you.”

Woe to you, o’ mountain.  You are coming down.

What’s your mountain?  Let’s level ’em together…

One response to “This Much I Know Is True…”

  1. What wonderful thoughts are in this reflection, and these words of Jesus you mentioned. Another favorite of mine is that the hairs of our heads are all numbered. I’ve been challenged on this by people (believers) that say God has more important things to do than be concerned with numbering the hairs in our heads. But He’s a great God-that’d be nothing for Him, and what a mark of His care for us. Thanks for your heart.
